the situationship book cover by abby jimenez showing a pig standing next to a tree

Release date: September 24, 2024

Find out how Maddy and Doug met in this sweet and hilarious short story from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Just for the Summer.

Travel nurse Maddy doesn’t have time for a relationship, not even with the ruggedly handsome farmer who she feels a spark of attraction to.

Doug is a walking green flag. After a run in with Maddy thanks to the Wakan town mascot, Kevin Bacon the pig, he can’t help but feel the spark too.

Even though she doesn’t plan on staying in Minnesota forever, Maddy believes she and Doug can still have a fling… or maybe they’ll just find themselves in a situationship.

“The Situationship”was originally published as a bonus chapter in the Target exclusive edition of Just for the Summer. This ebook original also includes a first look at Abby’s new release, Say You’ll Remember Me.

2. Say You’ll Remember Me (2025)

Release date: April 1, 2025

Trope: grumpy/sunshine

There might be no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediately yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong…

. . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake. But after one incredible and seemingly endless date—possibly the best in living history—Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be.

Only no amount of distance or time is nearly enough to forget that something between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.

The Friend Zone

TROPE: Friends to lovers

TWs: infertility

About the book

Kristen Petersen doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.

Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen – especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he’d be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it’s harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length.

Happy Ever After Playlist

TROPE: Celebrity/rockstar romance

TWs: Grief and loss of loved one

About the book

Artist Sloan Monroe just can’t seem to get her life on track. But one trouble-making pup who randomly jumps into her car with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With Tucker by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And the bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

Life’s Too Short

TROPE: Friends to lovers, neighbors

TWs: ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), terminal illness

About the book

When Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe, she wasn’t expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest isn’t just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and Vanessa doesn’t want to take anything for granted.

But after her half-sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in the custody of her baby daughter, life goes from “daily adventure” to “next-level bad” (now with bonus baby vomit in her hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or that she’d be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric Chihuahua.

Now she’s feeling things she’s vowed not to feel. Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little hope for a future she may never see.

Part Of Your World

TROPE: Opposites attract, older woman

TWs: domestic/emotional abuse, depression

About the book

After a wild bet, a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, and cuddling with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him, either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

Quirky dogs, small-town romance, and big-city drama. Abby Jimenez knocks it out of the park with this one. Check out the full review for why Part of Your World should be on your TBR!

Yours Truly

TROPE: Fake dating, friends to lovers, workplace romance

TWs: social anxiety, chronic illness, organ donation

About the book

Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.

And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan. Worse, he might be this fantastically funny and subversively likable guy who’s terrible at first impressions. Because suddenly he and Bri are exchanging letters, sharing lunch dates in her “sob closet,” and discussing the merits of freakishly tiny horses. But when Jacob decides to give Briana the best gift imaginable—a kidney for her brother—she wonders just how she can resist this quietly sexy new doctor…especially when he calls in a favor she can’t refuse.

Yours Truly is great for fans of golden retriever heroes, witty heroines, and engaging writing. You will laugh, cry, and swoon for Brianna and Jacob’s story.

Worst Wingman Ever

TROPE: unique meet cute short story collection

TWs: loss of loved one

About the book

They’re falling in love, yet they’ve never met. Maybe fate can intervene in a heartwarming “what-if” short story about new beginnings by the New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly.

Holly is dealing with the impending death of her grandmother and still reeling from a bad breakup. One bright spot: a Valentine’s Day card on Holly’s windshield—even if it wasn’t meant for her. An amusing mistake soon turns into a lovely exchange of anonymous notes, little acts of kindness, and a growing affection between two strangers. What happens when one of them has to say goodbye?

Abby Jimenez’s Worst Wingman Ever is part of The Improbable Meet-Cute, irresistibly romantic stories about finding love when and where you least expect it. They can be read or listened to in one sitting. Let’s make a date of it.

About the Improbable Meet Cute Collection

Just For The Summer

TROPE: online meet-cute, found family, friends to lovers

TWs: PTSD, depression, anxiety

About the book

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up, and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time, Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

FAQs

Which Abby Jimenez book should I read first?

While I recommend reading The Friend Zone series in order, you can always read based on your favourite trope:

Friends to lovers: The Friend Zone, Yours Truly, Life’s Too Short
Celebrity/rockstar romance: The Happy Ever After Playlist
Opposites attract, older woman: Part Of Your World
Fake dating: Yours Truly
Workplace romance: Yours Truly

Do you need to read Abby Jimenez books in order?

I would recommend reading The Friend Zone trilogy in order because some of the characters from the earlier books make appearances in the later ones and there are some plot points that might spoil the previous books for you.

But Part Of Your World and Yours Truly could be read out of order without major spoilers.

Are Abby Jimenez books spicy?

Compared to most rom-com books, Abby Jimenez’s books are on the milder side of the spice scale.

But don’t worry, even if you prefer a steamier romance, she creates such amazing characters and stories that you’ll still enjoy her books even without much heat.

How many books has Abby Jimenez written?

A total of 7 books (as of the latest update of this post).

This list is awesome! Thank you for creating it! This author is coming to Toledo, OH in November and I want to have read all (or most) of her books by the time her event rolls around. This is helpful to know where to start with her books and how to keep them in order.

Noticed a minor mistake in your post.
Ex-Lovers
Lola Simone/Nikki – marries Derek, Alexis’ twin brother, and tries to get with Jacob <–should be Jason, not Jacob. The only mention of Nikki/Lola in Yours Truly was that Jacob and Brianna had the same Lola Simone songs on their phones.

Otherwise, very comprehensive and a great review of how interconnected the "Abbyverse" is!

In Yours Truly,I believe Jacob mentions treating a patient during residency that I believe is Jason/Jaxon Waters. (This is from Happily Ever After Playlist)

And is the doctor in life’s too short that treats Vanessa’s sister, that’s Neil right?

I read the books out of order and I’m trying to piece everything together. I did part of Your World Series first. Whoops

ooh nice catch! 🙂 Ps. I read most of them out of order too lol It’s only when I re-read them that everything clicked.
